Sunny Saturday In Redfern
It’s beginning to feel like home. Saturday morning was spent sleeping late (for me) and eating pancakes. We have not been making pancakes as often as we did in Charlotte, mainly because we left behind the griddle. Cecilia fell asleep in my arms after breakfast, and even managed to stay asleep when I transferred her to the crib, which has been a rarity, of late.
The lovely sunny weather inspired us to walk and check out a local farmer’s market. One of my new friends (in all honesty, my only friend) mentioned it was a stroller friendly outing. Some of us were more excited about the trip than others.
Cecilia was on the lookout for something interesting, and we stumbled upon an art gallery and cafe in a repurposed rail yard repair station. It felt very much like the small galleries we loved in South End, and we felt called to give the huevos rancheros a try. While not nearly authentic, it was an interesting take on the dish, and it was reminiscent of the Mexican flavors we miss from NC and TX.
We explored the neighborhood until Cecilia gave in to her sleepiness again, and then weheaded home. We managed to find a bike shop on the way back, where we debated a commuter bike purchase. We are in the market for an around-town bike to complement the xtracycle. She woke up happy and well rested for story time and a late lunch of peas and rice cereal (see the slideshow for full cuteness).
Beautiful photos!
Thanks, we decided we should make better use of the cameras instead of relying so much in the iPhones. 🙂
Cecilia is so cute. Looks like Sydney is agreeing with everyone.
I love these photos and that CC has so much goo on her face 🙂 I’m glad Sydney is starting to feel more homey. Miss you guys!!
