Probably Pyrmont

Our main focus of the past couple days has been apartment hunting. We need to find a place to live before next week, as most of the relators start to go on holiday for Christmas. It has been a bit more difficult than in the States because we don’t know the areas very well and there are not many options on the market. After our adventures in the west, we knew that we wanted to live considerably closer to the CBD and Darling Harbour. I will be working in Darling Harbour, and it is likely that EZ will be able to find a position in one of those two locations. We had previously done some scouting in Surry Hills and the very edge of Pyrmont.

Surry Hills is beautiful, green, and bike-friendly. There are a lot of local restaurants and cafes lining the streets, and it has a bit of a hipster vibe. However, it is also a little pricey and “inconvenient” for us. I say inconvenient because despite the relative closeness to the office, it is not easily accessible by public transport – which we are planning to solely rely upon. We did some serious walking in addition to riding the buses and trains to make it to the apartments.

The apartment at edge of Pyrmont had a nice convenience factor for work, but it was next to a giant overpass.  While it felt safe enough, it looked a little sketchy, but that did not deter us from walking around.  Overall, Pyrmont looked a little newer, and it has a lot of places for EZ and the baby to explore while I am at work.  Better yet, it will be a nice walk for them if they decided to join me on my commute. After grabbing lunch at the Harbourside Shopping Centre, we decided to hit the pause button on Pyrmont, until we did a little more research.

As EZ noted, our research determined close to work is the place for us so we scheduled a few more inspections in Pyrmont, and as of right now it looks like the neighborhood for us.
