Goodbye NC
After the movers packed up all of our belongings, John packed the car with 2 carry-ons, 2 giant suitcases, the stroller, the baby, and everything else we needed for our last three weeks in the States. It was quite a feat in our little Sentra.
The next morning, we signed over our condo and did a last round of cleaning. It felt very final to have our first home together totally emptied and to be officially homeless. I hope the couple that bought the condo enjoys it as much as we did. We had a farewell lunch with Dianna at Local Loaf, before heading to the Triangle area for family time and UNC homecoming.
My college roommates all flew/drove into town for the Homecoming festivities, and we met up so they could be there for CZ’s first Tarheel experience. The weather was bitterly cold so we hung out in the student union, reminiscing and catching up on each other’s lives. I am so happy to have friends that I always feel connected to, regardless of the length of time between visits. CZ is lucky to be the first baby in the group and enjoyed napping in everyone’s arms.
Cat and Adam invited us over for an awesome dinner of pozole and chocolate orange slices (my first taste of Christmas). As always, the food was delicious, and there was lots of laughter.
As much as we loved spending time with friends, family time was the highlight of the trip. There were naps, shopping trips, and lots of feasting. I am glad the grandparents were able to spend lots of quality time with us and CZ, especially since she loved falling asleep in Grandpa’s arms. She also met a lot of relatives, and was generous with her newfound smiles and coos.
Erin- biggest congratulations to you and your family from Poland! I am so happy to see you are doing so well! I hope you move to Australia is a fantastic one- I’m sorry I wasn’t in Chapel Hill during homecoming to meet you and your beautiful baby! Congrats again! xoxo Lara
