It ended with hello.
I eagerly awaited the arrival of my latest Amazon purchase. My healthy living blog was suffering from the loss of my four year old Canon point and shoot. A couple weeks passed after its final shutter release, before I took the opportunity to invest in a used DSLR camera. I hoped that this purchase would allow me to capture higher quality shots and to learn more about photography in general. With my old camera, I mastered the basics of composition, focus, and Photoshop but was ready to graduate and start playing more with manual settings.
It was a Thursday, when I came home from work to the anticipated package. After unpacking and cradling the instantly beloved device, I raced to the nearest Best Buy for a memory card and battery charger. Best Buy shares a parking garage with a grocery store, which meant that I faced the frustrating task of maneuvering through impatient drivers who just wanted grab food and speed home. After almost getting hit by two cars, I was reminded why I previously avoided that location at the end of the workday. I finally pulled into a spot on the third floor away from the craziness and headed into the elevator.
Once in the camera aisle, I realized that in my excitement to race to the store, I neglected to research which memory card and battery charger to purchase. One more reason to upgrade to a “real” smart phone with a data plan, I thought. At least, I can always return them, if they don’t work.
Maybe someone will be able to help me.
I hopefully circled the camera aisle couple times before realizing that I would have to trust my own judgement. It seemed the blue polos assisted more vocal customers than myself. I collected several options, and started reading the technical micro-printed voltage and compatibility information on the packaging.
Exasperated with my lack of knowledge, I looked up, and a blue polo was bent over arranging a camera bag at the other end of the aisle.
Awesome! I will flounder here no longer.
Actually, on second glance the blue seemed too bright to have Best Buy logo on the right breast, but I had looked too long. We made eye contact as he straightened up. Definitely not the right blue. I tried to retreat to my armful of batteries when he said, “Hello!”
